Little Learners Nursery Groups

Each child is integrated into his or her age group.

Little learners offer high-quality care and education services for 4 groups of children between the ages of 1 and 6.

Groups Organization:

  • Pre-Nursery: 1 – 3 years
  • Nursery: 3 – 4 years
  • Reception: 4 – 5 years
  • Year 1: 5-6 years

CHILD / TEACHER RELATIONSHIP:

We know how important it is for a child to receive the attention necessary to develop and learn. That is why, every educator is in charge of a very small group of children, as it follows:

  • Pre-Nursery: 1 teacher/ 5 children
  • Nursery: 1 teacher/ 7 children
  • Reception: 1 teacher/ 8 children
  • Year 1: 1 teacher/ 10 children

Meaning of Groups

Pre-Nursery:  1-3 years

This is a place where your child will enjoy playing, hours of songs and structured activities, developing their social skills and satisfying their curiosities. Each day is a new experience: we play with different textures, we build, we solve puzzles or spend time in landscaped areas. The child will learn the basics, such as primary colours and geometrical shapes.

Circle time brings children together, developing their social skills. These types of activities play an important role in building a sense of rhythm and familiarity. These are aspects that encourage the emotional, cognitive and social development. We use British Sign Language because children at this age can associate a hand movement with a need or an emotion. This ability allows them to feel that they can control the environment and can be understood, thus building the steps that lead to communication.

Nursery: 3-4 years

Our educators will make children feel special and confident, behaving with them in a fair and equal manner. Children will learn to play together by activities such as building, imaginative or creative play, developing their cooperation and sharing skills. The special education areas are created in a way that encourages children to make their own choices. However, children will still need an educator to provide them with comfort and safety. This close relationship will be the basis of education and will encourage the child to evolve on all levels.

Reception: 4-5 years

The rooms of this group have a welcoming atmosphere, offering age-appropriate activities, improving imagination, skills and helping them to have a good start in school. These are communication, language and literature, mathematics, understanding of the environment, physical development, creative, emotional, social and personal development. Children will grow up becoming more confident and independent with each day, freely expressing their ideas, thoughts and emotions in front of a group at Carpet Time activities. They will learn to read and write simple words with the help of the Jolly Phonics programme.

Year 1: 5-6 years

During Year 1, we make sure that students can easily read simple words and sentences and that they precisely use their phonetic knowledge and reading skills that they had already learned. They will develop their writing and reading skills, grammar and general culture. At the same time, they will have a wide range of high-quality books and educational materials for vocabulary development. Children participate in activities and complex, varied lessons within the curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, Arts, Emotional Education. Besides they participate every day to extracurricular activities as well.
